the moon
|
|
The Moon, of course, has been known since prehistoric times. It is the second brightest object in the sky after the Sun. As the Moon orbits around the Earth once per month, the angle between the Earth, the Moon and the Sun changes; we see this as the cycle of the Moon's phases. The time between successive new moons is 29.5 days (709 hours), slightly different from the Moon's orbital period (measured against the stars) since the Earth moves a significant distance in its orbit around the Sun in that time.

THE INTERVIEW WITH GOD
|
| THE INTERVIEW WITH GOD

I dreamed I had an interview with God.
So you would like to interview me? God asked
If you have the time? I said.
God smiled. ? My time is eternity.
What questions do you have in mind for me?
What surprises you most about humankind?
God answered...
That they get bored with childhood,
they rush to grow up, and then
Long to be children again.
That they lose their health to make money...
and then lose their money to restore their health.
That by thinking anxiously about the future,
They forget the present,
Such that they live in neither the present nor the future.
"That they live as if they will never die,
and die as though they had never lived.
we were silent for a while.

| - Don’t be among those that apparently they are friends with God, but enemy in behind.
- Be it known that you are not out of God’s sight, save yourself now and find out how you are going to be.
- Your reliance in all affairs should be God the only being that he truly is a high (inaccessible) castle, a sure asylum and a firm and steady enclosure.
- Remember God in your joy and happiness until he will help you in your calamity.
- The person whose belief is most virtuous, his acquaintance with God will be closer.
- How could someone become lonely when God is the guarantor of him?
- How surprising it is! For the one who has doubt in believing God? While he is seeing the creatures of God.
- The person whose only reliance and his place of refuge is God; God will immune him from slips and adversities.
- The one who leaves his work to GOD, will be always at rest and will enjoy a happy life.

|
| Norooz: Iranian New Year
In harmony with the rebirth of nature, the Iranian New Year Celebration, or NorooZ, always begins on the first day of spring. Norooz ceremonies are symbolic representations of two ancient concepts - the End and the Rebirth; or Good and Evil. A few weeks before the New Year, Iranians clean and rearrange their homes. They make new clothes, bake pastries and germinate seeds as sign of renewal. The ceremonial cloth is set up in each household. Troubadours, referred to as Haji Firuz, disguise themselves with makeup and wear brightly colored outfits of satin. These Haji Firuz, singing and dancing, parade as a carnival through the streets with tambourines, kettle drums, and trumpets to spread good cheer and the news of the coming new year.
Haft-Seen
A few days prior to the New Year, a special cover is spread on to the Persian carpet or on a table in every Persian household. This ceremonial table is called cloth of seven dishes, (each one beginning with the Persian letter Sinn). The number seven has been sacred in Iran since the ancient times, and the seven dishes stand for the seven angelic heralds of life-rebirth, health, happiness, prosperity, joy, patience, and beauty.
The symbolic dishes consist of:
-
Sabzeh or sprouts, usually wheat or lentil representing rebirth.
-
Samanu is a pudding in which common wheat sprouts are transformed and given new life as a sweet, creamy pudding and represents the ultimate sophistication of Persian cooking.
-
Seeb means apple and represents health and beauty.
-
Senjed the sweet, dry fruit of the Lotus tree, represents love. It has been said that when lotus tree is in full bloom, its fragrance and its fruit make people fall in love and become oblivious to all else.
-
Seer which is garlic in Persian, represents medicine.
-
Somaq sumac berries, represent the color of sunrise; with the appearance of the sun Good conquers Evil.
-
Serkeh or vinegar, represents age and patience.
To reconfirm all hopes and wishes expressed by the traditional foods, other elements and symbols are also on the sofreh):
-
a few coins placed on the sofreh represent prosperity and wealth;
-
a basket of painted eggs represents fertility.
-
a Seville orange floating in a bowl of water represents the earth floating in space.
-
a goldfish in a bowl represents life and the end of astral year-picas.
-
a flask of rose water known for its magical cleansing power, is also included on the tablecloth.
-
Nearby is a brazier for burning wild rue, a sacred herb whose smoldering fumes ward off evil spirits.
-
A pot of flowering hyacinth or narcissus is also set on the sofreh.
-
A mirror which represents the images and reflections of Creation as we celebrate anew the ancient Persian traditions and beliefs that creation took place on the first day of spring.
-
On either side of the mirror are two candlesticks holding a flickering candle for each child in the family. The candles represent enlightenment and happiness.

Dogs, cats, mice, rats and rabbits have very poor color vision In fact, they see mostly greys and some blues and yellows
What about bulls? Does a red cape make them angry Does a red cape make them want to attack it
This is what humans see |
This is what a bull sees |
Bulls are color-blind. They charge the red cape because it is moving, not because it is red
Some animals do have good color vision. Monkeys, ground squirrels, birds, insects, and many fish can see a fairly good range of color. In some cases it's not as good as what we humans see - but it's much better than cats and dogs

Scientists say that good color vision helps animals find food on the land or in the water. For land animals, good color vision helps to tell the difference between ripe red fruit and unripe green fruit. Colors can also make animals more attractive to each other when they mate. Finally, the ability to see colors helps animals identify predators (other animals who may attack them

The Little Pink Rose
Adapted from a story by Sara Cone Bryant
Once there was a little pink Rosebud, and she lived down in a little dark house under the ground. One day she was sitting there, all by herself, and it was very still. Suddenly, she heard a little TAP, TAP, TAP, at the door.
"Who is that?" she said.
"It's the Rain, and I want to come in;" said a soft, sad, little voice
"No, you can't come in," the little Rosebud said.
By and by she heard another little TAP, TAP, TAP on the window pane
"Who is there?" she said
The same soft little voice answered, "It's the Rain, and I want to come in!"
"No, you can't come in," said the little Rosebud
Then it was very still for a long time. At last, there came a little rustling, whispering sound, all round the window: RUSTLE, WHISPER, WHISPER.
"Who is there?" said the little Rosebud.
"It's the Sunshine," said a little, soft, cheery voice, "and I want to come in!"
"N--no," said the little pink rose, "you can't come in." And she sat still again.
Pretty soon she heard the sweet little rustling noise at the key-hole.
"Who is there?" she said.
"It's the Sunshine," said the cheery little voice, "and I want to come in, I want to come in!"

The Fox and the Crow
A Fox once saw a Crow fly off with a piece of cheese in its beak and settle on a branch of a tree. "That's for me, as I am a Fox," said Master Reynard, and he walked up to the foot of the tree. "Good-day, Mistress Crow," he cried. "How well you are looking to-day: how glossy your feathers; how bright your eye. I feel sure your voice must surpass that of other birds, just as your figure does; let me hear but one song from you that I may greet you as the Queen of Birds''
The Crow lifted up her head and began to caw her best, but the moment she opened her mouth the piece of cheese fell to the ground, only to be snapped up by Master Fox. "That will do," said he. "That was all I wanted. In exchange for your cheese I will give you a piece of advice for the future:
"Do not trust flatterers"

About volcano
A volcano is a mountain of lava. When a volcano erupts , lava , ash , and smoke come out of the crater. The lava cools and makes a cone. There are more than 850 volcanoes in the world. Most of them are in a ring around the pacific ocean. It is called the ring of fire.
In Ancient Rome people believed that Vulcan , the god of fire, lived in a mountain. The word ‘volcano’ comes from ‘volcan’.
